Our Projects

The FARS Chanmugam Trust's first, and largest, project was The Carmel Home for girls in Colombo. Since then, we have become involved in several more projects largely focused around the continued education of children in Sri Lanka.

In 2019, we began working with a local school in Tetapola, We are working to help them refurbish substandard classrooms and hoping to create a playground and playing fields for them. Read more

Home for Young Women

In 2019, the Trust saw the need to provide a new type of housing and support to young women who have finished school. We have the opportunity to help them prepare for life more independently whilst supporting further education and professional training. Read more

    I remember when I wore friendship bracelets with my girlfriends back in school and we genuinely felt indestructible. It’s funny how just a piece of woven string and some beads can do that.

  • Soraya Akinsanya

    Soraya Akinsanya

    Soraya is the youngest trustee with strong cultural ties to her family's roots in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

  • Rohan Chanmugam

    Rohan Chanmugam

    Rohan was born in London but spent his early years in Sri Lanka. He now works and lives back in London.

  • Jerome Chanmugam

    Jerome Chanmugam

    Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Jerome lives in Colombo and represents the Trust in-country on a regular basis.
